In 2023, the St. Charles FC academy reintroduced the St. Charles community to USL soccer with brand new USL W League (women) and USL League 2 (men) teams.

The preprofessional USLW and USL2 leagues are comprised primarily of college athletes developing their skills as they move forward in their career. 

The St. Louis CITY 2 MLS Next Pro team began play in the inaugural season for the league (2022) and was the first glimpse at the larger St. Louis CITY SC team structure. The CITY 2 team is just below the first team and is composed of talented professionals and academy and college graduates, all honing their skills on their career progression. 

There's something beautiful about local soccer, particularly the lower leagues that are outside the glitz and glamor of the biggest stages, and are "down in the mud" where athletes put your town's crest on their chest and play their hearts out for the love of the game.

And that's when we were hooked.

We live and work here in St. Charles. The community is a great place to live and grow a family. And so the Mudpuppy Ultras grew from that sense of pride in who we are and how we can give back to this great community.
